Mackenzie's aim is to become a leading contemporary jeweller, creating quirky one off exhibition pieces, handmade production jewellery and bespoke commission pieces for all occasions.
Her designs reflect a fascination for clean-cut shapes both geometric & natural. Using silver smithing techniques and a variety of materials such as silver, gold, ribbon, stones, beads leather & cord, she concentrates on developing unique patterns and textures to complement them. These shapes integrate and overlap into stylish, simple and wearable designs.
At the heart of her work is the desire to make beautiful, unique and delicately crafted jewellery. Ornamental is a key word for her - sometimes delicate and fragile, others bold and courageous.
Inspiration for her jewellery is extensive; musings on nature and the inherent natural beauty found in & around us every day; patterns and shapes from nature and industry and everyday objects from the past or present.
Her ultimate goal is to produce objects of beauty & joy, evoking the feeling of owning something precious, a treasure that no one else has....Jewellery that tells a story.
